Who We Are
Alex Boynton and his father Raymond re-opened The King’s Arms in 2006 as a new venture, which also involves other Boynton family members. This has been exceptionally successful. Both have extensive experience of hotels and restaurants, especially of cooking delicious food. Raymond was in the hotel and restaurant business for more than 50 years and previously owned a successful country inn and restaurant, in partnership with his brother, and where Alex started his career. He now has more than 20 years experience and has developed his own individual style of cuisine and hospitality which is now offered at The King’s Arms.
What We Offer
The King’s Arms is a modern pub and restaurant, but with a traditional outlook. We offer locally brewed real ales and an extensive range of fine wines and spirit, but what we really pride ourselves on is providing excellent reasonably priced restaurant food. Our emphasis is on simple but well cooked meals, which show the quality of our locally sourced products, with meat or fish chosen by you from our display cabinet, and delicious locally grown organic vegetables.
The market towns of Thirsk, Northallerton and Ripon are only a short drive away and the beautiful city of York with its iconic York Minster, Jorvik, national railway museum and fantastic range of shops is easily accessible by train from Thirsk. There are many footpaths leading out of the village so if you wish, you can leave your car behind and for those of you on two wheels, there are many cycle routes nearby. Should the weather turn wet, make use of local visitor attractions such as the world of James Herriot, Sion Hall or The Black Sheep brewery visitor centre.
